Never did this:
Palo Alto Club Carpool Road Trip / Camping Club (CRT/C Club)
An Overnight Club for Palo Alto Campers, Want-to-be Campers, Used-to-be Campers and Non-Campers

Bill Thuemmel made the suggestion that we consider making CRTs overnight trips. We like the idea! We're also looking at connecting CRTs to become camping opportunities for Palo Alto residents that have a Motorhome or Travel Trailer.

   - Your lodging choices would include:  your own camper, a camping cabin at the campground or a nearby hotel.

   - You will choose whether to stay overnight for one, two or three nights depending on the planned tour or tours you want

   - We'll figure out tour(s)/shows and at times group rates when we can.

   - Once there, we'll figure out where to have meal(s) together, including possibly at someone's campsite (normally all could come even
if not staying at the campground)

   - It can be as close as Orlando or Ocala or as far as 3-4 hours from The Villages

   - Example possible trips:  Sarasota, St. Augustine for the holidays (the lights are supposed to be very good), Space Center

If you ever owned a camper (and miss being in the woods) or are thinking of buying one, the camping cabin is a great choice.  It costs less than a hotel, is small but rustic and comfortable, some have bathrooms (we recommend...), some provide linens (or you bring them), some have TVs, some have nice porches with chairs and/or patios with grills and for the most part, campgrounds are very safe. You might find camping cabins to be your new favorite place to stay for your future auto travel. We'll have more details as we plan future CRT/C events.
Your feedback is welcome:

Carpool Road Trip (CRT)
Due to low participation in CRTs generally
plus with the summer being so hot, humid & rainy in the afternoon,
the Carpool Road Trips are temporarily suspended through the summer, with the exception of the June 15th Gypsy Gold Horse Farm Tour (above).
Thanks to those who have participated and we hope to resume them in the Fall.
